Soler Cabot, watchmaking tradition since 1842

We suggest you travel back in time to learn the story of the invention of the first wristwatch. Abrahram Louis Breguet, from his workshop, devised the first known wristwatch, and he did so atthe request of the Queen of Naples, who in 1810 commissioned him to make two unusual watches, a highly complicated carriage watch and a repeating bracelet watch. Thanks to the archives in the firm’s house located on the Place Vendôme in Paris, we know that it was an oval watch, extremely thin, mounted on a chain of hair braided with gold thread.

And although the existence of other wristpieces is known, the use of pocket watches remained predominant until the beginning of the 20th century, when the wristwatch began to gain more prominence.

In fact, in the archives that we keep at Soler Cabot, there is already a record of pocket watches made by the house of Cabot at the end of the nineteenth century, such as this example that we show you. Although there are also other models that were conceived and designed especially for their customers, among whom were great personalities of Barcelona society at the time. In the 50s and 60s, jewellery watches made of white gold and diamonds became very fashionable, of which Soler Cabot made many pieces with different designs.

In 2007, to celebrate Soler Cabot’s 165th anniversary, José Luis Soler-Cabot and his son Carlos created a limited edition automatic model with an ETA Valljoux 7750 movement and of which only 165 examples were made.

Years later, we presented the Soler Cabot 24H Collection, which was born from Carlos Soler-Cabot’s desire to continue the firm’s watchmaking tradition by creating a collectionthat combined sportiness and elegance. Made in Switzerland and designed in Barcelona, the 24H collection is made with top quality materials. Its aeronautical steel case and rubber strap, rigorously designed to adapt perfectly to the shape of the wrist, are some of the features of these limited edition watches that are inspired by nautical and Mediterranean style. Water-resistant and with a water resistance of 100m, it is a watch created for everyday use.
